Youth in Philanthropy

Through a hands-on approach to giving and grant making, Youth in Philanthropy empowers high school students across the region as they work together to create visible impact in their schools and communities. Students learn about the meaning of "philanthropy", the nonprofit structure, and importance of volunteerism. They survey their peers to build local needs assessments, and then organize their own grant round to support local youth programs.

This fall marked the 21st year of the program, which has experienced tremendous growth over its remarkable history. In 2024, a record 18 school districts and 250+ high schoolers joined the program, including new groups from the CSIU, Milton, and Shamokin. Students will award a collective $90,000 in local grants this coming spring. Learn more at csgiving.org/youth-in-philanthropy.
